43 Luger Semi-automatic pistol Mod.: Lange Pistole 08 Prod: DWM Deutsche Waffen- und Munitionsfabriken Berlin Year of manufacture: 1916/ 1920 Double date of the Reichswehr with unit designation. Serial number 4398 (matching numbers).

Very rare and beautifully preserved Lange Pistole 08 made by DWM in 1916 with double date 1920 and extremely rare Reichswehr troop stamp.

The original bluing is over 96% original, but in places minimally, insignificantly worn. The attachments such as bolt, trigger, safety etc. still largely in the original tempering colors.

On the left side of the fork is the serial number 4398, the year of manufacture 1916 and the date of the Reichswehr takeover 1920. On the top and on the right side the contemporary proof mark in the shape of a stylized eagle as well as three contemporary acceptance marks, crown above a Gothic letter.

As usual, the breech shows the manufacturer's logo DWM on the middle joint as well as the contemporary proof mark on the front joint and the last two digits of the serial number on the three joint parts.

Interestingly, the same proof mark is present on the ERFURT 08 pistols. Presumably, the front joint of the pistol with the same serial number is from overproduction and went to the DWM company, which is not unusual, as the barrels of the Lange 08 pistols from DWM production also come from ERFURT production.

The complete serial number 4398 can be found on the front of the grip frame as well as the Reichswehr troop stamp "A.W. 57" on the front of the grip frame.

The barrel bears the calibre 8.82, the serial no. 4398 as well as the contemporary proof mark in the form of a stylized eagle of the ERFURT company.

The weapon contains a well-preserved, rebated magazine with wooden base and serial number 3527 a.

The pistol also shows the serial number and various acceptance marks in the usual places and small parts.

Extremely rare, beautifully preserved long pistol 08 which was in service with the Reichswehr despite being banned by the Treaty of Versailles.
