79 Gewehr 98 (nummerngleich) der Firma AMBERG aus dem Jahre 1917 im Kaliber 8 x 57m JS mit der Seriennummer 1542q .

 Very nicely preserved rifle 98 with over 80% preserved original bluing this in places on the upper ring, magazine box and cover somewhat worn and weaker. The formerly bright and polished parts are partially minimally spotted darkened. The barrel has some rust pitting on the right side between the upper ring and muzzle as well as the ring retaining springs in the raised area. The barrel has an "S" for pointed bullet and caliber indication 7.9 between the rear sight and case on the upper side and S.No. 1542 above q on the left side of the barrel. The case is marked as follows: Left side; military proof in the form of a heraldic lion with scepter and S.No. 1542 over "q". In sequence, the inscription: "Gew. 98" in Gothic script. Top; crown over "AMBERG" and the year "1917". Right side; three military acceptance gothic letters under crown. The blank breech bears the full serial number on the breech stem base and an additional military acceptance on its underside in addition to the military proof (heraldic lion with scepter). The reverse side is marked with the letter and number combination "K 2 107". The lock bears two military proofs plus the last two digits of the serial number. The safety and the firing pin nut each bear only one military proof and the last two digits of the serial number. Abn. and the last two digits of the serial number. All attachments are matching numbers to the weapon, with military acceptance marks (Gothic letter under crown). The individual parts have the following combination: Upper and lower ring; lock holder sight bow and sight slide; magazine box screws and cover; safety wing; firing pin nut and sidearm holder = the last two digits of the S.No. and 1 military acceptance. Magazine box and butt plate bear S.No. 1542 with two and one acceptance stamps respectively. Stock is in nice condition, all stamps and numerals are still present. Military acceptance marks can be found on the handguard, on the right side of the butt and on the bottom of the butt as well as on the neck of the butt. Furthermore, the complete S.Nr. is on the bottom of the butt and on the right side of the butt is the brand stamp "EWB" for the Einwohnerwehr Bayern. The stamp plate is slightly porous on the right side from removed rust. The butt has a small stress crack on the left side starting from the butt plate. Additionally screwed on front sight guard. Overall a collectible 98 rifle from Bavaria with history. In nice overall condition with matching numbers. Weapon is subject to purchase certificate in the FRG and other countries.weapon without re-firing therefore only available on S - WBK in the FRG.
